Who is Janessa Bookout?
Professional Artist and Certified Life Coach with a Bachelors of Fine Art (BFA)
My name is Janessa Bookout and I am truly an ARTworkaholic.
I have managed my own art career, professional fine art galleries and creative small businesses for over 20 years. I graduated with a BFA in 2004 from the Maryland Institute College of Art. I am a professional artist, certified life coach, art coach and published author.
I work 1-on-1 with visual artists and creative businesses in different capacities to achieve their goals.
I wrote and published my first book in 2023 to help my fellow artists and it became a bestseller in it's first month on Amazon! It's called "Artworkaholic: Confessions and Life Lessons for Independent Artists Building Their Own Creative Career Path".
I have an art studio and home office located just a few miles from the beach in Southern California. I am excited to build this online community of like-minded creatives and "ARTworkaholics" who desire financial freedom, artistic expression and personal evolution through the experience of fine art education and personal development.

Timeline / Education & Work Experience
Janessa excelled in visual art and academics at Booker T Washington High School in Tulsa, OK 1996-2000.
She earned her BFA in sculpture from The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD 2000-2004.
Janessa worked as a professional artist along with many other skilled trades in various locations in the US 2004-2016.
She partnered with Dave Moore and formed DMZ Surfboards in 2011 and later formed The Zone LLC in 2016.
Janessa worked as a professional art gallery manager in Laguna Beach and Corona del Mar, CA 2017-2019.
She also helped form Operation Stoke (a 501c3 nonprofit) in Virginia and California in 2020.
Janessa launched Fifty Skies (an online coffee and tea business) in 2021.
She began working as an artist coach in 2022 and published her first book in 2023.
She became a certified therapeutic art life coach in 2024.
Janessa currently lives in Southern California and continues to work independently
to support herself as an artist while also helping her fellow artists, small businesses and nonprofits.
